Many Milestones.

This is the 500th post for the Eventing-A-Gogo blog.
We have over 250,000 hits as of this week, and 365 official followers.
And exactly two years ago today, Gogo blew her legs out on XC at the 2009 AECs.

The first two things are super exciting and awesome! The last thing, not so much.
I am teetering on the edge of try or do not try. One minute I am hopeful, and the next I despair. I don't really know what to do.

The video of the original slide and injury in 2009:

Oh, Gogo.

Wow I've never seen that vid before. amazing... just a little slip, something lots of horses do, often, I even have a video of a XC round with a similar, if not worse slip of the hind end, yet that horse was none the worse for wear. But just the right slip, at the right spot, at the right angle... it blows one's mind.

How many times must you have watched that video and thought "what if, what if, what if..." :(

Like Emily said, such a minor slip.

Gosh, that little blip just doesn't seem enough to have caused her (and you!) such trauma...scary!

It must be a very hard place to be in for you. I think to have to trust your own decisions is one of the hardest parts of being an adult. The should've, would've, could'ves can just overwhelm you. But, after having read this blog for years, it's obvious that you know this mare like no one else possibly could....and you know in your gut what you need to do. If you feel that it's worth a shot to try *something* for her, then do it. If you feel that it's better to keep her happy for now and then put her down, then do it.

And know that there's a ton of us out here in cyberspace that will cry or cheer along with you. {{hugs}}

Congrats on 500 posts, 250k hits and 365 followers. That's really awesome. :)

I watched the video the first time you posted it and again now. I think I see where the slip is, but I'm not really sure. Where was it on the video in minutes/seconds? It was such a minor slip. Hard to believe that one little second changed your lives so much.

You will make the right decision for Gogo. You've been through so much together and you know her so well. We're here for you.

I'm a little confused - was it the slip or is a great deal of this somewhat degenerative and the slip just compounded it?

There is a video of me falling off a mountain and hitting my head. It's here in the house and I've never watched it. Some things are so difficult to live with that seeing can make it that much harder.

I hope she's enjoying her pool time. It does look like a great thing to do in this heat.

The slip started it all - she had never been lame a day in her life until that moment in time. The video was taken two years ago... seems like yesterday.

Long-time lurker but this is my first time posting. I just wanted to add my support to the huge outpouring that you have already received. Gogo is lucky to have you as an owner; not many people would invest as much time, energy, and love into her recovery as you have.

That video is such a tragic reminder of how fragile these big creatures are that we love so much. Best of luck in all the weeks and months ahead.
