This week's Photo Adventure...
Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park, Colorado.
One of our stops on our drive to California in 2006. Both my traveling companion and I suffered some ill-effects from the change in altitude, but while I rested and hydrated, he insisted that we hike and 'work out' and refused to listen when I said he really needed to acclimate first, and he of course got very sick. Dumbass. We drove all the way across the top of one of the mountains above the tree line (in the alpine tundra, 11,500 feet above sea level!), came awfully close to getting chased by elk, and saw some amazing sights. It was so gorgeous.

We did that trip during our gypsy summer - we took three months off and traveled all over. It was amazing - but the altitude is tough to handle. We all got a little sick going to the continental divide.
I wish I'd known you were going to be here! We're only twenty miles from Estes and would have taken you out on an amazing ride (which would have been less physically demanding than the hike) on trails not packed with hikers.
Hope you're feeling better from your altitude sickeness and enjoying the rest of your trip.
