If you saw this on the bottom of all four of your horse's feet, would you know what was happening, and what do you think would happen next?
The answer will follow shortly, as soon as I take a picture of it :) (Picture was taken about two weeks ago.) Don't worry, it is both interesting and good at the same time!

shedding her sole?
ReplyDeletethat looks like a sole ready to exfoliate to me... which will = need for a trim!
ReplyDeleteIt means the sole is sloughing off, right?
ReplyDeleteExfoliate, yes! Slough, nooooo! When a sole sloughs off it is NOT a good thing. When it exfoliates by itself, it is!
ReplyDeleteI never heard of a sole exfoliating until I was reading your blog... but Don's hooves look EXACTLY like that from time to time! Only in true thoroughbred fashion he has lovely chips in the wall. Luckily he doesn't chip too terribly. For a thoroughbred.
ReplyDeleteSheddding/ exfoliating/ desquaming sole ?
ReplyDeleteYep I was going to say exfoliating too. I can't wait to see the next picture.
