Remember when?

Remember when we were kicking patootiebootie in the dressage at every event? Found a brief old clip of Riga Meadow, where we were robbed with a score of 34.0, but were still in 1st after dressage anyway!
(Although, if you remember correctly, this was when she had Lyme and then unceremoniously freaked out on XC later on in the day and did 360s in front of the up bank, which prompted me to believe that this behavior belonged to a physical issue, not an emotional one!)

Sigh.... those were the good old days!

I really do hope I find some sort of a fun turnaround project once I am down in Texas. Something with a little surprise... a horse that needs some help. Something I can make better, and happier. Something that will look at me with great liquidy eyes everytime I come near and silently say, "thank you for giving me a chance."

  1. Gorg, just gorg. But who can pay attention to the riding when that tail steals all the attention! ;)

Those liquid eyes have another sense to sniff out people like you and I'm sure you will find him/her. :)

  2. Good luck with finding a horse. I want to go eventing on a Standardbred. Any chance of persuading you to join my cause?

  3. Lovely, elegant horse and rider. Beautiful swinging tail from relaxed supple back.

  4. Lovely video, your hands are so still. Really nice, thanks for sharing. There are so many horses out there that need a chance, I have no doubt you'll find one.

  5. I live in Dallas and I've heard good things about Bluebonnet Equine Rescue. Also, your best chance of a good eventing prospect is probably LOPE Texas for OTTBs. www.lopetx.org. Check the trainer listings near Lone Star Park...there are some cuties! Lynn Reardon, the founder, wrote a book called Beyond the Homestretch, which is simply amazing. I recommend that everyone read it! Plus, the proceeds go to LOPE.

  6. Andrea, if you'd like, drop me a line. I know a number of people in central and south Texas who may have something like what you're looking for - just not sure what sort of situation you're looking for in terms of lease/own, etc. But I can certainly put some feelers out for you.

Do you know when you're moving this way?

  7. There are plenty of eyes who need a chance, I am sure you will find more than one candidate for love and TLC. Definitely no snow there, I lived outside of Houston for two years after college before I fled. Prepare for a wet wet cold...
