Quick.

I haven't fallen off the face of the earth or died, I promise. I've just been feeling the spring fever and have been avoiding being inside and on the computer when I could be outside playing in the sunshine instead. I have a lot to write about. Gogo was coming along beautifully, amazingly, and I was feeling on top of the world. And then yesterday, she came up dead hobbling lame again mid-ride, just like before. And again today, she's 85% better already. But clearly, there is something we've missed going on. My suspicion is stifle. But at this point, I don't know.

I hate this. I'm always a few degrees off-center when my Gogo isn't right. I'm not going to be okay until I find out what the hell is going on. We'll be going back up to Tufts next Tuesday because they'll be able to more definitively diagnose what's going on, and of course demand three times the money of my regular vet. Insurance is all over for this claim... it's all out of pocket now, and that's hard. That's all my hard-earned and penny-pinched money I've put away for the show season. Which, unfortunately, isn't going to be happening anymore.

My friends are making me go out again tonight. They always do this when I'm down to try and make me feel better. Honestly, all it does it make me want to be alone.

  1. Ugh, I'm so sorry. You guys have worked so hard, and things should be going your way by now. I hope Gogo magically gets better SOON!

  2. I'm sorry to hear Gogo is having troubles again... things were looking so promising!

I completely understand your frustration. I'm going through something similar with my mare. Started out as a tendon injury and now, we just don't know.

I hope you get good news at Tufts!

  3. It is great that the weather is so nice you can go riding. Sorry about Gogo's problems, though.

  4. Hey Andrea, I know you've probably gotten your appt. and all that set up for Tufts, but in the future, have you ever heard of the Ruffian Equine Medical Clinic? It's located in Elmont, NY, right across from the Belmont backside, and they are VERY good with lameness and are actually trying to low-ball the college vet hospitals. I used them personally and had them diagnose my horse with simple flexions and an ultra-sound after THREE other vets had misdiagnosed him. We had our answer in MINUTES. My trainer has also used them several more times since then with equally encouraging results. I would reccommend them to anyone, and it might be just a tiny bit more affordable. Although I know Tufts is familiar with Gogo, so that's a plus. Anyway, if you decide to look into them, shoot me an e-mail, I'd be happy to give you more details about what my costs were and which doctor i was using: amy.bergamo@gmail.com
Hopefully all will go well for you!

  5. :( It just seems like she does so well and then comes up with something else. It must be so frustrating.

Hope the vets have good news and she can get right back on the road to recovery and conditioning.

  7. Oh boy....that really is heart tearing not knowing 100% and then how to attack the problem. If only they could talk...
I hope you find out clearly and that hard earned money proves useful for her healing!!! I'll be thinking of Gogo and you
