He loves it when I groom his face, but if a well-meaning person walks over and tries to give him a good-ole pat-pat on the forehead (good puppy)without greeting him first, he gets terribly annoyed and his facial expression is plain as day. Needless to say, if I revert to old riding habits or get tight and try to force him to do something, he puts his foot down.

On the other hand, treat him like a partner and there seems to be no limit to what he will do for me.Valhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07335385366138424092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6364831396028560774.post-23008571961483449882010-07-29T19:38:39.135-07:002010-07-29T19:38:39.135-07:00Hmm.... sounds like me and Greta.

Because if I do then I over-correct and Greta gets all melodramatic and stressed (as do I) and it just goes to hell in a hand-basket from there.

Oh, mares, you gotta love 'em. Lots of humility and patience needed, definitely.

Actually, thanks for posting this, it really makes me feel so much better that I know I'm not the only person with stuff like that going on. Nothing is more humbling than getting the stink eye from her whilst in the saddle!Andreahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15902291220984883182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6364831396028560774.post-3278113833948021142010-07-29T16:12:07.353-07:002010-07-29T16:12:07.353-07:00Here is a suggestion for dealing with a crap day b...Here is a suggestion for dealing with a crap day before getting on your horse. Bash up something that doesn't feel pain. Best object is a punching bag. Just hang one up and give it a beating every time you feel aggro. When I was a child, I read a book that suggested that if you feel anger whilst on your horse, get off your horse, tie your horse up (or have someone hold it for you) and then go beat up some nettles or similar object until you feel better. Then and only then, get back on your horse. Anger and riding a horse don't mix.

Sorry for the lecture. I sympathise. Sometimes other people can be so frustrating!!!!kippen64https://www.blogger.com/profile/09349803809195454781noreply@blogger.com
